Lavender

Lavandula angustifolia Mill.

Lavender is an aromatic plant with healing properties known since antiquity in references to Dioscorides, Pliny and Galen. It was a favourite ingredient in herbal baths both in Greece and Rome while in the Middle Ages it was considered the herb of love and was used as an aphrodisiac. Of the more than 30 species and dozens of lavender subspecies, the cultivated Lavandula angustifolia is the most widespread and thoroughly studied for its actions.

Lavender tea for calm moods and a radiant skin

Several studies have shown that lavender acts as an anxiolytic, sedative, analgesic, antispasmodic and a mood stabilizer with neuroprotective properties. The Lavender tisane is considered to have a calming effect leading to better sleep. It may improve the mood and is considered healthy for the skin. Its use is also recommended by EMA for the treatment of sleep disorders, temporary insomnia, mental stress and mood disorders.
